I'm sort of fed up with northeastern liberals thumbing their noses at socially-conservative pundits and political candidates. It's not that I support the social conservatives. To the contrary, I feel that when liberals laugh at these people and label them "rednecks", they are too busy smirking to themselves to notice that some of these characters have real political power and get ridiculously strong populist support in the Southeast. Let us not forget that Sam Brownback, the current governor of Kansas, has gone on television and radio publicly speaking out against the separation of church and state. Laugh all you want, but he's one of the most powerful politicos in the sunbelt, and not much will change until east-coast Liberals put their elitism aside and reclaim some of the populism that once made the American Left so great.
lyrics
George Wallace, standin' in the schoolhouse door
Don't he know that he's behind the times
Did he know how stupid he would look
After fifty-something years gone rollin' by
Tried to seem a hero, but the image didn't stick
Acting high and mighty, but coming off as thick!
George wallace, riding the gravy train
Riling up supporters in the south
Leading independent in the sixty-eight campaign
Racist hatred spewing from his mouth
The yankees took him as a fool, they laughed at every blunder
Yet thirteen percent sure ain't a win but it makes a man a wonder
